KIRKLEES Council has pulled out all the stops to finish work on Dewsbury ring road on time.

Despite problems along the way the road is now open.

Work has involved road reconstruction, drain repair and improved pedestrian facilities, street lighting and changing the traffic lights.

A council spokesperson said: "The scheme was due to take eight weeks and we have managed to finish on time despite some initial setbacks that were out of our control.

"Our team has been working around the clock to try and get the road finished. We have tried to minimise disruption as much as possible and we would like to thank the people that use this stretch of road for bearing with us."
