IT’S showtime in our nostalgia supplement this week as we highlight some cracking photographs from across the decades.
The images show the cast from many amateur Huddersfield shows in the 1960s and captures the sheer number of people involved.
There will be many familiar faces and memories will flood back of a vibrant time for amateur dramatics.
Huddersfield Choral Society is celebrating its 175th anniversary this year so its members and supporters may like to see the society on a trip way back in the early part of the last century.
Our tremendous gratitude to contributors, not only for the loan of their pictures, but for the patience they have exhibited in waiting to see them in print!
One or two have become separated from their owners so if you recognise a picture, please let us know and we’ll speed it on its way to you.
The theme ‘work and play’ is strong with rare pictures of such Huddersfield icons as Fartown Rugby League teams from the 1950s to a special collection of 1960s shots of Scissett Amateur Operatic Society, from Pat Smith (nee Lodge) of Upper Denby.
