A building at a Dewsbury ceramics works had to be evacuated early today after a blaze broke out in ducting.

Firefighters were called to Magma Ceramics in Earlsheaton around 6am.

A fault in a sawing machine is thought to have ignited wood dust in an industrial hopper.

Two fire crews from Dewsbury gained access to the hopper and cleared it out before ventilating the smoke-logged building.

About a dozen workers had evacuated the building before firefighters arrived.

Crews spent just over an hour at the scene.
