OLD ammunition has been found at the same spot in Huddersfield where workmen unearthed a live grenade.
The ammunition was found by men digging near Huddersfield Broad Canal at Leeds Road Playing Fields yesterday.
It follows their discovery of a live grenade at the site on Tuesday. Army bomb disposal experts took the grenade away after the area was sealed off.
Police took the ammunition away and destroyed it.
Sgt Tim O'Sullivan, of Huddersfield police, said: "The ammunition was rusty and clearly very old.
"Let's hope nothing else is found there."
