DRAMA students are preparing to smash their own world record.

Pupils from Stagecoach theatre school, Huddersfield, will be among over 100 other Stagecoach schools performing the same play simultaneously.

The record attempt takes place tomorrow at 4.15pm where Stagecoach schools from across the world will perform Glad Rags written by Stagecoach education director Veronica Bennetts.

The record was last broken in 1999 when 100 Stagecoach schools staged 100 simultaneous performances of The Rainbow Juggler. The event raised £60,000 for UNICEF.

Money from this year’s attempt will go towards youth project First Floor at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds.

Pupils from Stagecoach Huddersfield, at Royds Hall High School, have been gearing up the world record bid.

Principal Ruth Marston said: “The performance will demonstrate all the skills young people learn at Stagecoach.”
