A TEENAGER was hit with a wrench when a gang attacked him.

The 16-year-old, from Newsome, was playing football in the grounds of Rawthorpe High School when a gang of youths approached his group at 9.30pm on Thursday.

One of the gang tried to cause trouble with him, then pulled out the wrench.

He took a swing and at first missed the victim.

But he then hit him on the side of the head. The impact knocked the teenager to the ground.

He was then kicked and punched.

His injuries included a small cut to his head and a bruised face.

Two of the main attackers are mixed-race youths in their mid- teens.

One is 5ft 5in tall and skinny. He wore a light green hooded top, dark tracksuit bottoms and a baseball cap beneath his hood.

The other is slightly taller and stocky.
