A CHARITY balloon sailed from Huddersfield town centre and landed on a German airfield about 600 miles away.
The balloon race was organised by Huddersfield Pennine Rotary Club during the summer.
Hundreds of people bought balloons for £1 each.
The balloon travelling the furthest arrived in the small town of Kyritz, 50 miles north-west of Berlin.
Mrs Wyn Floyd, of Almondbury, who bought the winning balloon chose a watercolour by local artist Betty Thornton as her prize.
The woman who found the balloon received 40 euros (£28).
The balloons were launched from King Street in Huddersfield town centre on August 22 and 23. The event raised £2,700 for the Macmillan nursing care charity.
