SHE has been singing since the age of 14.

But Birkby vocalist Carolynne Poole admits that her X Factor audition in front of 7,000 people and the judging panel left her petrified.

It didnt matter the 31-year-old is back on our TV screens this weekend as the show reaches the boot camp stage.

And if the judges comments are anything to go by, Carolynne could be a contender for the final rounds.

Despite the crippling nerves, her performance of the Miley Cyrus hit The Climb brought her a standing ovation and tremendous praise.

Panel judge Tulisa Contostavlos said: I can see you in the final.

And Take Thats Gary Barlow added: That was absolutely spectacular. I would buy your album right now. There is so much possibility here, Id take you in my category right now.

Kelly Rowland and Louis Walsh also raved about her vocal performance.

Carolynne currently lives in Birkby, Huddersfield, with her husband, footballer David Poole.

He used to play for Stockport County but is now considering an offer to play in the States with Orlando City.

But its music that is Carolynnes first love.

She was brought up in Leeds and joined a country band at the age of 14.

We toured all over the region and I loved it.

I was also a songwriter and at 17 I moved to London and began work doing that for BMG.

In 2003 I went on Fame Academy on TV and finished third, but I found that when I finished that programme I was tied in to so many agreements it was difficult to move my career on.

I did land a job on the Amarillo tour with Tony Christie which ran for a year and he was great. He took me under his wing and really encouraged me.

But after six years away I wanted to return to my Yorkshire roots so I came back north and married David.

I went for the X Factor thinking the judges may well tell me to concentrate on something else, and was petrified.

I think the nerves have got worse as Ive got older, but I was overwhelmed by the judges comments.

David was there, as was my mum Joy and sister Jacqueline, and it was fantastic to get a standing ovation from 7,000 people.

Now Im through to Boot Camp and I dont want it to stop.

AS the X Factor enters the boot camp stage, Huddersfield singer Ashford Campbell  is hoping for success.

Ashford, of Lowerhouses, appeared on the Xtra Factor in week one having won over the judges with a performance of Justin Timberlakes Senorita.

He secured his place in boot camp and is set to appear on the forthcoming show this weekend.

Having accompanied his vocals with some stunning dance moves, the Greenhead College student sparked smiles from N-Dubz singer Tulisa who said: You can sing, you can dance, were here to find a superstar and youve got the package. I love it.

Louis Walsh and Kelly Rowland recognised his potential, while Gary Barlow joked that his dance moves reminded him of himself.

Ashford is the younger brother of Sunderland striker and ex-Manchester United player Fraizer Campbell and is currently studying languages at Leicester University.

Having always had a passion for the stage, he was part of Channel Fives Dont Stop Believing super-group last year.

After his performance in August, bookies listed him in their top four contenders to win the entire show.

He described the live show: It was so surreal singing in front of the judges especially as I have always loved Take That, Destinys Child and more recently N-Dubz but they were all so nice.

The X Factor, ITV1, Saturday, 8pm.
