TWO Huddersfield men are celebrating after being named as winners in last night's Yorkshire Awards.
Linthwaite shopkeeper Inderpal Singh Rhandawa was chosen as Unsung Hero.
And Holmfirth artist Ashley Jackson was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The glittering awards ceremony was held at the Yorkshire TV studios in Leeds.
Mr Rhandawa, 49, arrived in Huddersfield in the early 1980s and has worked tirelessly for the Sikh community.
His has been president of the Guru Nanak Sikh Temple, a member of both the Indian Workers' Association and Kirklees Racial Equality Council and president of the town's Interfaith Council.
In October he earned a nomination for an Examiner Community Award in the Services To The Community category.
Ashley Jackson has celebrated more than 50 years as an artist and is one of the most successful in Britain.
He is also a keen charity worker.
