Three top tourist attractions in the Huddersfield area are vying to be Yorkshire’s best.

The Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Cannon Hall Farm and the National Coal Mining Museum near Grange Moor are among 16 venues aiming to be crowned Yorkshire’s Most Magnificent Attraction 2014.

The Scuplture Park won the title last year.

But the attractions face competition from many others as Yorkshire enjoys the run-up to Yorkshire Day on August 1. The county is still basking in the deserved attention it got with the Grand Depart of the Tour de France.

This summer, Yorkshire’s Magnificent Attractions is calling on the public to start voting for their favourite Yorkshire attraction to be in with a chance of winning Yorkshire’s Most Magnificent Attraction title.

The public has until September 1 to vote, with the overall winner being announced on September 16.

Yorkshire is brimming with a great variety of magnificent attractions for people to visit throughout the year, some of them indoors, others outdoors and many of them free to visit.

Some of the best known venues include Yorkshire Wildlife Park, the National Coal Mining Museum for England, The Hepworth Wakefield, Flamingo Land, Eureka! The National Children’s Museum and last year’s winner Yorkshire Sculpture Park. These attractions also greatly contribute to bringing new and repeat tourism to the region, recently surpassing all visitor figure targets during the Easter holidays.

Deb Hindley, Director of Yorkshire’s Magnificent Attractions, said: “What a fantastic year it’s been for Yorkshire! After such incredible events and amazing attractions doing so well this year, we’d love to know who Yorkshire’s favourite attraction is.

“We’re so lucky to have a rich choice on our doorstep and we want to be able to reward them for their hard work. Show your support and get voting to pick which attraction you think should win this year.”
