Police have released an e-fit image of a man they want to speak to after an elderly woman was robbed in Elland.

The 85-year-old woman had just got off the 537 bus from Huddersfield and was walking along Victoria Road near to St Patrick’s Church, when was approached by a man who grabbed her handbag, causing her to fall to the floor.

He is described as white, approximately 40 to 50 years old, about 5ft 5ins tall, with a sharp nose and round chin.

Det Con Natasha Wilson, of Calderdale District CID, said: “Thankfully, while the victim was shaken by this robbery, she only suffered minor injuries and is recovering well.

“This was an unprovoked attack on a vulnerable member of our community and I would urge anyone who was in the area who witnessed any part of this incident or anyone with information about the man involved to please make contact.”

The offence happened between 1.40pm and 2.10pm on Monday, November 16.

Anyone with information is asked to call Calderdale CID via 101 or to ring the independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
