Police want help in catching two callous conmen.

They have released these two e-fit images of suspects following a distraction burglary in Deighton.

The two men claimed to be collecting rubbish when they knocked on a pensioner’s door in Browning Road on January 21.

One of the men asked the victim for a glass of water and while he was distracted they stole a small amount of cash.

On suspecting something was wrong the 68-year-old asked the men to leave, and later noticed cash was missing.

Det Con Shaun Lewis, of Huddersfield CID, said: “We are investigating this offence and would like to speak to anyone who recognises the men pictured in these e-fits, or who may have seen two men fitting these descriptions in their area.

“I would remind residents they are under no obligation to let cold callers into their homes and that genuine callers from local authorities or utilities will carry identification and have a number you can ring to confirm their identity.”

The first suspect was described as white, in his mid 40s, 5ft 8/9ins tall, and stocky with tanned skin (possibly East European) and a bulbous nose. He was wearing ‘oldish looking’ clothes and a dark green woolly hat

The second man was white with tanned skin, 35-40-years-old and taller than the other man, with short black hair.

Anyone who has information should contact Huddersfield CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
