A YOUNG baking enthusiast from Huddersfield impressed bread tycoon Brett Warburton with one of his loaves.

After winning the Yorkshire Young Baker of the Year award, Lennox Ncube was invited to a national contest at Warburtons’ headquarters in Bolton.

There, Lennox competed with other regional winners in front of a panel of judges who included Mr Warburton.

Although Kirklees College student Lennox did not walk away with the crown, his loaf was popular with the judges and they highlighted his potential talent.

Warburtons’ business development manager Liz Young said: “We are extremely impressed with the quality of entries.

“The creativity and baking knowledge of the students who took part demonstrates just how much talent we have in our county.’’

Lennox had baked a cheese loaf for the regional contest which won him the £500 prize.
