A young Huddersfield actor is one of the stars of a hit TV film by the giant Disney corporation.
And tomorrow night, Alex Starke will feature in the final episode of Evermoor, a spooky tale for Halloween, which is being screened on the Disney Channel.
Alex, 13, plays the part of Ludo in the four-part series which is being shown by Disney in 130 countries around the world.
And he has managed to fit in his studies at Newsome High School with the filming, which took him to London and Cheshire several times.
The film was the first Disney production to be filmed entirely in the UK.
But it’s not a first TV role for the aspiring star, who lives in Longley Road, Huddersfield, with mum Gillian, dad Simon and sister Hannah, who is taking theatre studies at Greenhead College.
He has appeared in several shows on CBBC, was the voice of a dinosaur on the Nickleodeon channel and is also set to star in a forthcoming Christmas commercial for the giant Morrisons supermarket chain.
“He has just been filming this week for the Morrisons film,” said mum Gillian.” It involved a trip and a long day in London but he loves it and he gets to sing in the commercial. He has a beautiful singing voice.
“It’s what he has wanted to do since he was a small boy. I don’t know where he gets his theatrical talent from: I have never done anything and I think the furthest Simon ever got was as a third witch in a school production of Macbeth.
“Alex starred last year in a Victoria Wood show at the Royal Exchange in Manchester and he has also done local musicals.
“The school has been brilliant about it and have helped him along, He has had tutors when he has been away filming.
“Evermoor is a really spooky story which they aimed to finish on Halloween and he has been playing Ludo, the son of the housekeeper in the strange mansion where it is set. He’s a bit of a geek is Ludo but Alex has loved every minute of it”.
Evermoor is screened at 6pm on Friday on the Disney Channel.
