Watch out Hollywood luvvies – this budding young Lower Cumberworth actress could be taking all of your jobs after landing a star part in a new feature film.

Seven-year-old Megan Rosendale left a film crew bowled over when she took on a lead role in front of the camera to shoot Emmerdale star Dominic Brunt’s hotly-tipped new feature film thriller, The Taking.

Due to be given the red carpet treatment at Leeds International Film Festival next month, it is the latest triumph for the youngster whose new talent is just one of many others that are sure to leave silver screen names quaking in their boots.

Megan could not believe her luck when she was handpicked by talent scouts including Dominic – who is best known as Paddy – while at her drama group, the Pauline Quirke Academy in Barnsley.

She was then rushed off for a second audition in Leeds before being given the lights, camera action treatment a few weeks later in Mytholmroyd.

Her proud mum, Natalie, who was over the moon when she landed the part, said: “She’s always been a live wire and is always singing and dancing so it was fantastic when she got offered the part and she had a really great time.”

Playing the part of Chloe, the daughter of a vicious loan shark, she had everyone convinced when she staged a tantrum and appeared in several other scenes alongside About A Boy star Victoria Smurfitt and TV star Joanne Mitchell.

Natalie, who will go to the premiere on November 5 on Megan’s behalf, said: “She took to it like a natural and even though it was a very long day for her she did really well.

“I must admit that I was a bit wary when I found out what the film was about but Megan did not see any of the violent scenes being filmed.

“I’m not sure what to expect from it but can’t wait to see her in it and she is itching to get involved in more filming.”

It is just the latest bit of glitz and glamour for Megan who just recently gained a silver medal for her ballet routine in her first dance festival in Sherburn in Elmet.

And not just content with being a dab hand at the dance, tap and modern forms, she is also becoming a distinguished stage actress, ice skater and has just taken up another hobby, the guitar.

Her next big debut will be at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London in May 2015 when she will join other members from the Pauline Quirke Academy.

Mum Natalie, 39, said: “I’m just so proud of her. She goes to the academy for several hours every Saturday and works very hard and it’s all that she wants to do.

“I hope that her good luck will continue and I’ll be happy as long as she’s enjoying it.”
