Young Huddersfield Town fans will have the chance of a lifetime – to play against their heroes.

In 2011 and 2013 the club has pitched footy kids against a team of Town legends.

But this time around, some 200 youngsters will go head-to-head with 11 first team players, managed by boss Chris Powell and assistant Alex Dyer.

The kids’ team will have a secret weapon, however. Their coach will be one of Town’s greatest ever No9s, Andy Booth.

The Town XI v 200 Kids Game – which sounds slightly one-sided – will take place at Town’s training complex PPG Canalside, off Leeds Road, on Bank Holiday Monday, May 4.

It is free for junior season cardholders aged between five and 12 while non-season cardholders pay just £5.

All those taking part receive a T-shirt, medal, bottle of water and an official photograph e-mailed to their family afterwards.

As well as the football matches there will be lots more fun activities. There will also be warm-up games, penalty shoot-outs and photo opportunities with mascot Terry the Terrier.

The club’s supporter partnerships manager Robyn Deegan said: “This is the third Town XI v 200 Kids Game we have done and it is always a brilliant event.

“But for the 200 children to be able to take on current Huddersfield Town players this season makes it even more special for everyone involved.

“It is sure to be a great spectacle and I hope to see lots of Town fans turning out to watch the event.”

There are only 200 places and the deadline is March 30 or until the places are filled.
