ALMONDBURY youngsters took part in a school holiday soccer tournament.

The event at Almondbury High School playing fields was organised by the Communities United Project (Cup) and Almondbury Neighbourhood Wardens.

The aim was to get youngsters aged eight to 12 interested in sport and build links with the wardens.

The hope is that the children will be diverted from the temptation of getting involved in anti- social behaviour.

The Cup scheme is a Huddersfield- based charity which uses the popularity of sport to get youngsters involved in positive activities.

Almondbury Neighbourhood Warden Chris Max said: "It was a fantastic opportunity to guide young people away from anti- social behaviour - and for them to show their football skills."
