YOUNG Muslim women visited Spain to learn about how Islamic rule helped shape the country.

The group of 11 from the Pakistani Youth Forum also wanted to understand how the Christian and Muslim communities lived together as one nation between 711 and 1492.

They visited the architectural wonder Alhambra which was built by the Moors in the 14th century.

The group also made trips to Cordoba and Seville.

Aamna Azam, 16, said “I knew so little about the Muslims’ past in Europe. I no longer feel that I am an intruder. As a Muslim I feel historically linked with Europe and Britain.”
