The hunt is on for Yorkshire’s rising  stars.

The 21st Yorkshire Young Achievers’ Awards   recognise outstanding young people aged under  35 who have made an impact, nationally, regionally or locally.

The awards are backed by 2012 Unsung Hero  Dr Kate Granger, 31.

Dr Granger is an Elderly Medicine Registrar  working at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield  and has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

The Huddersfield-born woman has been  hailed for promoting a dialogue about death and  has vowed to use Twitter to describe her final  weeks.

Awards chairman, Peter McCormick OBE,  said: “We want to hear about young Yorkshire  people who have made a difference.

“It doesn’t matter whether they are world  famous or are known only within their own  community.

“What is important is that they have had an  impact because of their talent, fortitude or  determination to achieve a better life.”

To date the awards have raised more than  £950,000 for young people in Yorkshire.

There are seven Awards as follows:

 Personality of the Year

Youngster of the Year

Unsung Hero

Achievement in the Arts

Achievement in Education

Achievement in Management and Enterprise
