A VILLAGE youth club is appealing for volunteers so it can open its doors again.

Youngsters have had to do without weekly meetings in Meltham because of a shortage of supervisors.

The Take-a-Break Club, which meets at the Carlile Institute, shut for the summer and did not reopen.

The club holds once-weekly sessions during term time for children aged eight to 12.

Chairman John Spencer said: "We have a grant from Meltham Town Council for a paid leader, but we are desperately short of adult volunteers.

"No experience is required and we would be really grateful if people came forward."

Club meetings are on Thursdays, from 7pm to 8.30pm.

When the club was open it catered for up to 30 youngsters.

Would-be volunteers can phone Mr Spencer on 01484 852833.
