A TEENAGER arrested during the Lowerhouses curfew appeared in court yesterday.

Huddersfield magistrates were told that the 15-year- old, who comes from Lowerhouses, was in a group hanging about the streets during the police crackdown on anti-social behaviour.

The curfew has been imposed to stop yobbish activity around Lowerhouses and Ashenhurst.

It runs between 9am to 6pm and affects under-16s.

It ends in September.

The court was told that last Thursday a uniformed police officer told the group to disperse by 6.50pm.

The youngster was seen after that time.

In court he denied he was doing anything wrong.

He said he was waiting outside a fish and chip shop for his order.

Magistrates adjourned the case until Monday, August 2.
