Ice cream maker Louise Holmes is going back to school – to work with pupils on a new flavour to sell at the Birdsedge Village Festival.

Louise Holmes, co-founder of Denby Dale-based Yummy Yorkshire, has been invited to take part in a special day on the importance of entrepreneurship and business at the school she used to attend, Birdsedge First School.

During the visit tomorrow, she will talk to pupils aged four to 10 about her experience of setting up the company and the process of manufacturing and selling ice cream.

The older pupils will also work with Louise to come up with new flavours that could be sold at the Birdsedge Village Festival, which takes place on Saturday. Parents will be asked to sample the flavours with the winning concoction produced and then sold at the festival.

The school has three classes and 81 pupils and is rated by Ofsted among the top 20% of all schools for reading, writing and maths.
