Businesses in Huddersfield gave their rivals food for thought – by winning a trio of trophies.

Denby Dale-based Yummy Yorkshire, Elland’s Lottie Shaw and The Spiced Pear Hepworth, near Holmfirth, were among the winners in the Deliciouslyorkshire Awards.

Lottie Shaw’s Seriously Good Yorkshire Parkin was the winner in the category for best bakery product – and took the award for supreme product.

Lottie Shaw’s – led by director Charlotte Shaw – has found a growing market for its parkin, which is made to a 100-year-old family recipe.

Yummy Yorkshire scooped the best dairy product with its mouth-watering toffee and cherry ice cream.

And The Spiced Pear Hepworth, run by award-winning chef Tim Bilton, added to its accolades with an award for the best Yorkshire afternoon tea.

The awards were presented at a ceremony staged last night at the National Railway Museum in York and hosted by seasoned food judge and broadcaster Nigel Barden.
