Tracy Brabin retained the Batley and Spen seat with 29844 votes.

A total of six candidates contested the seat to become the next MP for Batley and Spen.

Tracy Brabin represented Labour and Co-Operative, Alan Freeman for the Green party, Mohammed Hanif stood as an Independent, John Lawson for the Liberal Democrats, Aleks Lukic also stood as an Independent and Ann Myatt for Conservative.

Voters went to the polls from 7am on Thursday with the polling stations closing at 10pm.

Results for Kirklees and Calderdale are expected to be announced from 4am.

By the time the result is known in Batley and Spen the overall outcome of the election may already have been decided.
