The M62 has been closed following an accident.
The motorway was completely closed between J33 (Ferrybridge) and J34 (Whitley Bridge) while emergency services deal with the incident.
Highways England says it is a serious two vehicle collision and West Yorkshire Police's road policing unit is on the scene.
Yorkshire Air Ambulance has taken casualties to hospital. Four people were injured.
The road is expected to remain closed for several hours, Highways England added.
Meanwhile a second accident has taken place between J20 (Oldham) and J19 (Heywood) westbound.
A multi vehicle crash has taken place. Traffic England says there are currently delays of 20 minutes and normal conditions are expected by 8.45pm.

Ferrybridge crash: closures for next 1h 30m
It looks like the westbound carriageway of the M62 at Ferrybridge will be closed until 9.30pm
Manchester crash: Two of three lanes closed
Here’s the latest from Inrix: Traffic is moving slowly now as lanes one and two of three remain closed.
Traffic England says the incident is expected to clear by 10.15pm and normal traffic conditions are expected by 11.15pm.
Ferrybridge crash: Update from Traffic England
Traffic England says normal travel conditions are expected between 9pm and 9.15pm today.
The road is still closed while the accident is investigated.

Anyone heading towards Manchester on M62 it’s gridlocked. Bad accident just after junction 20 and it’s backed up for miles and miles. 5 fire engines, 3 ambulances and tones of police. Looks like 5 car pile up looked horrendous. Hope the people are all okay. I felt sick driving past seeing babies car seats.

It’s a car left the motorway on the westbound side. There are at least 2 small children in it plus parents. They have closed both sides due to the air ambulance and the severity of the accident as they are having to cut I believe

This will affect anyone driving towards Manchester from Huddersfield

Traffic is now building on surrounding roads as drivers try to get round the closure. Anyone heading this way is in for a long journey.
Four people hurt, say police
We’ve spoken to Insp Clive Turner from North Yorkshire Police.
He said police believe just one vehicle is involved.
It was involved in a collision and has come off the motorway.
Four people were injured and have all been taken to hospital, some of them by air ambulance.
Road closures will be in place for the forseeable future.
Police are at the scene and are investigating.
