Brothers aim to maintain Yorkshire impetus

BROTHERS PEARSE go into Yorkshire League action against JFK’s at All Saints tonight (7.30) aiming to maintain a flying start in the county competition.

While struggling in the Pennine League, which also takes in Lancashire, they have two wins and a draw in the white-rose league.

Hugh O’Neill’s were defeated by a single point – 1-12 to 1-11 – in the opener while in match two, it was all square (3-5 to 1-11) against Young Irelands.

In the third match, St Anthony’s were defeated 2-9 to 2-4.

Irelands and Brothers Pearse are all square at the top of the six-club championship with eight points apiece.

O’Neill’s are third, followed by JFK’s, St Benedict’s and St Anthony’s.

It’s a different story in the Pennine League top flight, with Brothers bottom and still chasing their first point with five games gone.

Manchester’s Oisin’s lead the way with three wins and a draw from four outings.

Next in the table come new entrants Cu-Chullain’s, from Newcastle, and John Mitchel’s, from Liverpool.
