We're thriving once again

THE Sellers Huddersfield Junior Cricket League is back in action with a bang!

A total of 141 teams are now doing battle in age groups from Under 9 to Under 17.

The junior sections are thriving, although three teams – Shelley Under 11s, Holmbridge Under 15s and Lepton Under 15s – have been forced to withdraw.

In the Under 15s there are now 11 teams in each of three sections. There are currently no plans to re-arrange fixtures, but the teams with open dates may contact each other and arrange a friendly.

At Under 9 level, where they are in their third season, there are 20 teams in18 tournaments. Hall Bower have joined this season while Augustinians, Denby Dale, Holmbridge, Lascelles Hall and Shelley have left.

In the Under 11s (sixth season), there are 25 teams in two sections with Hall Bower and Marsden replacing Lepton and Meltham B. Shelley, of course, have also now dropped out.

This is the 34th season for the Under 13s, who have 35 teams in three areas. Almondbury, Almondbury Wes B, Elland and Shepley are new this season while Kirkburton B, Kirkheaton B and Scholes B have dropped out.

Crigglestone, Hall Bower, Holmfirth B, Kirkheaton and Upperthong are the new teams in the 24th season of the Under 15 competition, with Edgerton & Dalton, Kexborough and Leymoor now being joined by Holmbridge and Lepton in dropping out.

The Under 17s have now been running for 71 seasons and new teams this year are Edgerton & Dalton, Kexborough and Paddock. Dropping out are Crigglestone, Delph & Dobcross and Old Almondburians.
