A HOLME Valley sports club has secured almost £45,000 of funding to carry out improvements to its facilities.
Underbank Rangers RLFC in Holmfirth has landed £44,934 of Olympic legacy funding from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities Fund.
The cash will go towards modernising and improving access to the clubhouse. A new unit to include a toilet, girls’ changing facilities and a physiotherapy room will be built alongside the existing changing rooms and clubhouse at Underbank’s heavily-used Dunford Road ground
In addition, improvements to the existing clubhouse will include new rendering and flooring along with new security and improvements to outdoor surfaces.
Sport England chairman Richard Lewis, said: “This investment will create a fantastic sporting legacy for Underbank Rangers RLFC.
“This fund has really hit the mark with sports clubs in Yorkshire.”
Club chairman David Berry said: “We are delighted to secure the first Inspired Facilities grant, which will enable us to upgrade the quality of our premises to match the quality of our coaches and our recent on-field successes.
“It is the cornerstone of our strategy to have an outstanding club from the 2012 Olympic legacy which serves our Holme Valley community with pride.”
The project is one of 350 local community sports groups to be offered a total of £17.4m in Olympic legacy funding through the Inspired Facilities Fund.
