Bank bid to extend major run

UNDERBANK aim to rewrite their club records yet again by claiming a fifth successive Conference National win.

An impressive 22-20 triumph against league leaders Bramley 13 days ago was the first time Rangers achieved four back-to-back victories in the League.

After another free week in Rangers’ fixture list, Aaron Perrin’s side now hope to go one better when East Lancashire Lions visit The Cross tomorrow (2.30).

But, despite his team being in confident mood right now, the Australian player-coach believes there is still room for improvement.

“There is a long way to go in the season and still we have a lot of things to do in terms of improving,” said Perrin.

“Discipline is one area we need to work at.

“We gave away about 14 penalties against Bramley which is not good enough.

“Our attacking fluency; creating more options when moving forward is another aspect we need to get better with.”

Similar to Rangers, a victory for the East Lancashire side would potentially have a major significance in the race for a play-off spot.

“One of the biggest motivations for us going into the game is that a positive result could cement our place in the play-offs.

“In doing so, it may also end East Lancashire’s chances,” added Perrin.

“Afterwards, we’ve got a tough couple of weeks coming up but at the moment we're just taking it game by game.

“It’s nice to be winning while we’re not playing completely at our best – performing at a level where we still need to improve by around 20% to achieve that.”

Regardless of recent results, Perrin hopes his team remain focused and avoid becoming complacent.

“Grand finals are not won in the middle of the season.

“In a way, if we lose a game then part of our good recent work has gone to waste.”
