Perrin looks for another morale-booster

UNDERBANK travel to Warrington tonight (8.00) looking for another morale-building Conference National win.

After consecutive defeats against Featherstone, Bramley and Dewsbury Celtic, Rangers ended their bad run with a 31-24 triumph at Hemel four days ago.

Coach Aaron Perrin's side currently occupy fifth spot in the league table and can no longer achieve a fourth-place finish which would ensure a home playoff tie.

However, the Australian dismisses the notion that his team no longer have anything to play for.

With only two games of the normal season remaining, Perrin hopes his side can continue performing well to prepare for the play-offs.

“We’re looking to carry on building on our confidence,” he said.

“But because we can no longer finish fourth, I will probably rest some of our key players tonight.

“Anybody who has knocks at the moment, I’ll probably leave out.”

Warrington, currently sitting third in the league, overpowered Underbank when the sides met at The Cross in April by claiming a 30-18 win.

Tonight’s fixture was previously abandoned in June due to a waterlogged pitch.

Reflecting on the win at Hemel, Perrin is pleased that his side returned to playing with a smile on their faces.

“It was a crucial game for getting our confidence back and nice to see us playing with a smile.

“I believe Warrington should approach the game in the same way as us – with one eye on the play-offs. We're both looking for a good performance.”
