LINDLEY Swifts and Slaithwaite Saracens have again underlined their potential with victories to remain in the Pennine League Third Division title race.
Leaders Lindley made it eight wins out of eight with a hard-fought 26-18 triumph at home to Sharlston Rovers A, while the Saracens hit top form to win 48-6 at Odsal Sedbergh.
Hero for the Swifts was in-form Steve Brook, whose hat trick made him a fairly obvious choice for the man-of-the-match award.
Two of those came in the opening half as Lindley held an 18-12 lead, with Jason Knapton and Paddy Vinters also crossing for tries and Anthony Knight adding a goal.
The second half proved to be just as competitive, with skipper Olly Brodzinski (pictured left) and Booth scoring to secure the League points.
Potentially, it could have been a tougher day for Slaithwaite, who were without key players Ritchie Hawkyard, Richard Flooks and Mark Boothroyd for the trip.
But, fortunately, that didn’t matter in the end, with the Saracens building up a 30-6 interval advantage to set them on their way.
By the end of the contest, Mick Bostock (pictured right) had scored four tries, with Lee Mason, Lee Hurd, Darren Hawkyard and Danny Garside the other to cross, with Garside also landing eight goals.
