SLAITHWAITE Saracens produced the performance of the season to win 21-12 at Third Division leaders Bank Top Harriers.

Coach Richie Hawkyard’s side always knew they would need to be at their very best to seal victory, and they did it in style!

They made their intentions clear from start, eventually taking the lead with a Richie Hawkyard drop goal midway through the half.

Ten minutes later Chris Lodge raced over after a typical Darren Hawkyard break, and Mark Boothroyd converted to give the visitors a seven-point advantage at the interval.

As expected, Bank started the second half with all guns blazing and scored a converted try in the corner to make it 7-6.

Saracens hit back in the 56th minute when full-back Mick Bostock came superbly into the line to raced over wide out, but when the home side responded with a converted try to make it 12-11 to the Harriers, it looked as if Slaithwaite’s chance was slipping away.

Fortunately, in the final 10 minutes the Saracens’ attack got better and better.

Stuart Dunbar nudge his side back in front with a try in the corner and then Bostock grabbed his second, which Boothroyd then converted, to seal the most significant result of the season.
