Victory!

NEWSOME Panthers bounced back from their Second Division defeat to Emley Moor a week ago by securing a 17-14 victory over Thornhill Trojans A.

The home side were soon into their stride, racing into a 10-0 lead through tries from Dan Nelmes and Dave Farrell, who supported a Simon Burkinshaw 50m break from a scrum deep in his own half, and one Ross Studholme goal.

But at the start of the second half, Thornhill struck back to level the scores before Ben Feehan streaked away to put the Panthers back in the lead and seal the game

Early indiscipline proved costly as the Saracens’ second string lost 32-20 to Guiseley in Division VII.

They trailed 20-0 at half-time and, despite second-half tries from Shaw (2), Fitzpatrick and Beal – who also added two goals – the damage had been done.
