Derby in top flight

IT’S derby time in the Pennine League Premier Division.

Bottom club Elland, with only one point from eight matches this season, visit Huddersfield rugby league rivals St Josephs.

Fartown-based St Joes have only six points themselves but will be looking to press Kippax Welfare, who are just two points above them in the table.

Interestingly, honours are even between Elland and St Joes as they drew 28-28 when they met in Calderdale back in October.

In the Second Division, leaders Emley Moor look to bounce back from their shock Holliday Cup exit at the hands of Lindley Swifts when they travel to Wyke for a top-of-the-table clash.

Third-placed Newsome Panthers are at home to Boothtown Terriers and will be looking for maximum points.

Slaithwaite Saracens and Lindley Swifts, in second and third places respectively, are on the road in Division III.

The Saracens visit Littleborough looking to put pressure on leaders Bank Top Harriers, who are not in action this weekend, while Lindley are at Hoyland Vikings.

In Division IV, Meltham All Blacks have a tough home fixture against second placed Wortley Dragons, while Underbank entertain Silsden Park and Liversedge make the short trip to Queensbury. Brighouse Rangers visit Dudley Hill.

St Josephs A visit King Cross Park in Division VI while in Division VII, Slaithwaite A are at home to New Earswick.

There are no matches tomorrow week (December 22) in the Pennine League.
