Girls chase major title

ALL SAINTS are going for a slice of national glory tomorrow night.

The Catholic College Year 11 girls rugby league team are in the Carnegie Champion Schools’ final against Cardinal Newman of Warrington.

It’s a 6.30 kick-off at Odsal Stadium in Bradford and All Saints are hoping it will be third time lucky, having lost to the Lancashire team in the last two finals.

Paige Eli (right) goes into the showpiece having been selected in the England Under 15 squad to meet for a match at Bisham Abbey a week tomorrow, April 16. Skipper Jasmine Baker, too, will be determined to finally lift the trophy after captaining the Yorkshire Under 16 team last year.

While Cardinal Newman have received support in the build-up from Warrington Wolves of the Super League, coach Amelia Ryder has the All Saints girls well prepared for the final of a competition which originally featured over 300 teams and which is now in its sixth year.
