RL: Moor set early mark

EMLEY MOOR opened their Pennine League First Division campaign with a hard-fought 28-20 triumph at Dodworth.
With the Southwell brothers – Darren, Jason and Marcus – forming a formidable front row, the visitors thoroughly deserved their victory, although they were forced to fight back from a 16-12 half-time deficit to take the honours.
Glen Holdsworth gave Moor the lead with an early penalty, but it wasn’t long before the hosts were taking a firm grip on the contest, grabbing two converted tries to open up a 12-2 advantage.
Former Giants prop Jason Southwell then struck twice in the opening half to score Emley’s first tries of the season, with Carl Adamski adding one of the conversions.
But with Dodworth adding their third try, the South Yorkshire side held a four-point advantage at the break.
