RL: St Joseph's and Emley Moor make final spots

EMLEY MOOR and St Joseph’s will do battle in the final of the James Joseph Conlan Memorial Trophy.

The two clubs’ second teams earned the right to meet in the final of the old Supplementary Cup after impressive wins over Underbank A and St Joseph’s A respectively.

Moor powered into the final after a comprehensive 66-4 demolition of Underbank at The Cross.

The visitors were always in the driving seat, with Nick Alderson, Dan Pawson, Will Senior and Tom Beaumont all scoring twice.

Duncan Peacock, Robbie Hepworth, Karl Adamski, Danny Byrom and Oliver Davidson added one each and Adamski, who led the team superbly in attack, landed seven goals.

And St Joseph’s A emulated their first team to beat their counterparts from Slaithwaite, 42-24, to progress to a Cup final.

Joe’s started four points behind under the competition’s handicap system.

But that had been wiped out by half-time as tries from Steve O’Keefe, Phil Drain and Sam Hendrick, who also added four goals, gave the visitors a 20-14 interval advantage.

In the second half, Joe’s continued to dominate, adding further scores from John Costello, Craig Lee, Darren Kelly and Hendrick, who converted three of the tries to finish with a personal haul of 22 points from two tries and seven goals.
