UNDERBANK RANGERS’ RL Conference National clash at home to Gateshead Storm has been called off.

The duo were set to go head-to-head at the Cross tomorrow.

But due to the number of injuries and the winter commitments of Storm players, the visitors have asked for the fixture to be played at a later date.

That’s a big blow to Rangers, who were keen to get back in action after opening their campaign with an excellent 26-24 home triumph over Hemel Stags last Saturday.

“This was the first time we’d won our opening Conference fixture, so you can imagine how buoyant everyone was feeling,” said Underbank official Neil Farrell.

“Gaining some early momentum was something we were striving for, but that’s already been taken out of our control.”

There is still amateur RL action on the Pennine League front tomorrow.

Of most interest is the First Division derby clash at the DRAM Centre where Moldgreen host Emley Moor.

Division II title-chasers Slaithwaite Saracens host Ovenden A, while in Division III Lindley Swifts should be too strong at home to Hoyland Vikings.

In Division VI, St Joseph’s A travel to Guiseley Rangers and Division VII side Slaithwaite A are at Wibsey Warriors A.
