RL: ‘Let’s be ruthless’ – Underbank's Knight

HUDDERSFIELD Underbank Rangers coach Richard Knight is looking forward to a titanic tussle when his side look to continue their winning run at Dewsbury Celtic.
Knight goes into tomorrow’s Co-operative Conference National derby clash looking for his team to be more ruthless in their approach – even though they pummelled East Lancashire 52-6 on their last outing to rise to fourth in the table.
Dewsbury are currently lying eighth in the table with three wins from their nine games.
Last weekend Celtic upset the form book with a comfortable 28-18 defeat of Liverpool Buccaneers.
The intense rivalry between the clubs always guarantees a fiery, tough encounter
Knight said: “Tomorrow’s game will be another tough test with Dewsbury Celtic who are just starting to hit some form.
“We’re going into the game on the back of two consecutive away victories at Liverpool and East Lancashire.
“With having a free Saturday the previous weekend, the latter match was a very one sided game, which wasn’t ideal preparation for this week.
“In a sloppy game it was hard for the lads to stick to the game plan with East Lancashire being very poor. We needed a far better run out after the break, but like good teams do we need to be more ruthless in games like that and put the opposition to the sword.
“However, we have worked extremely hard on the training for the past two weeks and I hope to see some reward for that effort against Dewsbury.”
Knight will be missing some key players in Neil Barrett, Simon Burkinshaw, Lee St Hilaire, Will Midgley and Joe Flaherty, which will give other squad members the chance to shine and stake a place in the team for the following week.
Knight added: “The lads have trained really well this week and with the likes of senior players Darren Hawkyard, Tom Senior and Dave Valentine now all back to full fitness, plus the return of Matt Lodge, we are confidently looking to return from a tough battle with the valuable three competition points.”
Supporters are reminded that the coach leaves Underbank at 11.45am for the trip to Dewsbury, kick-off 2-30pm.
