Amateur RL: Winger Richard Aka whips up a Storm

A HAT-TRICK of tries from Richard Aka put Huddersfield Underbank Rangers on their way to a convincing 44-14 win over Gateshead Storm in the Co-operative National Conference.

Storm had to move the fixture to Whitley Bay as their own Bullocksteads home ground had been closed for ground maintenance and they were still finding their feet on their new ‘home’ ground when Rangers’ stand off Nick Bellas created the opening try in the first minute with a neat chipped kick for centre Shaun Mitchell to score in the corner.

Bellas added the goal, but Gateshead hit back instantly with loose forward Neil Emmerson making a great break top trace 85 yards to the line and winger Dan mole added the goal.

Storm then took the lead on seven minutes with half back Robert Roxborough diving over in the corner.

Underbank replied again with Bellas showing some tidy footwork to race over the line and then add the goal to restore their lead, but that was short-lived as Roxborough turned provider and his good work sent centre Michael Lassen over for Gateshead.

Seven minutes from the interval Underbank again got their noses in front and this time they managed to push on and extend their lead with winger Aka opening his account after Bellas had kicked through and Mitchell had gathered before sending the winger in for his first touchdown.
