Amateur RL: Newsome Panthers ready for top Pennine League clash

ONLY a month into the season and there’s already a big game in Division II of the Pennine League tomorrow – featuring Newsome Panthers!

It takes place at Wortley Dragons where the Leeds-based side – coached by Giants prop Paul Jackson, who is re-joining Castleford Tigers next season – look to make it four wins out of four against their visitors from Huddersfield.

And with the unbeaten Panthers determined to retain top spot on the back of a fifth straight triumph, a cracking contest should be guaranteed.

Newsome head to Wortley after last week’s hard-fought 36-26 derby triumph over Moldgreen, who will be keen to bounce at home to Brighouse Rangers.

Both of the town’s First Division sides are at home this weekend.

Slaithwaite Saracens will be confident of getting win No3 against West Bowling A, but Emley Moor face a tough challenge at unbeaten leaders Clayton.
