Delight for Greenwood

FRANK GREENWOOD made it a cause for veterans’ celebrations when he booked a place in the Griffin Champion of Champions with victory in the Gerald Sykes-sponsored Sixteen competition.

Greenwood, who got in as second reserve after the withdrawal of Paul Sigsworth, looked home and dry leading 18-11 against Richard Brook in the final.

But Brook fought back and reduced the scoreline to 18-17 before Greenwood ran out to claim his first victory for many years.

There is a £200 first prize with £100 to the runner-up.
