DOUGIE BARRETT, the treasurer of the Huddersfield Veterans Association who is more used to handing out prizemoney, received the winner’s cheque of £60 after clinching the Lower Division Trophy at Crosland Moor Manor.

In a tight final he eventually overcame Derek Bruce, of Slaithwaite, 21-18.
In the semi-final Barrett had a comfortable 21-12 victory over Ken Hird, of Lowerhouses, while Bruce took the lead at 15-13 and hung on to beat J Hovarth 21-16.
Earlier Barrett had to come back from 14-10 down against Peter Hirst, of Lowerhouses, to win 21-15. Melanie Laws of the sponsors, Park Road Fisheries, presented the prizes.
