Bowls: Ellis Owen out on her own

David Ryding and Jason Booth beat Penistone duo Anton Haigh and Daniel Marsland to win the Thorpe Green Under 16 mixed pairs handicap.

In the semi-finals young Newsome WMC pairing of Daniel Beaumont and Harry Jackson were 15 across before the Yorkshire junior pairing of Booth and Ryding saw the game out.

Rory Morgan and Nathan Haigh, of Newsome WMC, gave South Yorkshire juniors Haigh and Marsland a hard time before finally going down 21-13.

In the final Booth and Ryding held a 13-10 lead after 15 ends, but Haigh and Marsland came back to be ahead three ends later.

Booth and Ryding then had their best spell going into a 19-14 lead, but the Penistone duo rallied again to make it 19-17.
