Bowls: Big guns on show at Sowerby Bridge

NETHERTON’S big guns Paul Sigsworth and Ashley Daykin are in the running to qualify from Saturday’s Clifford Crawshaw Memorial Classic at Hill Crest BC, Sowerby Bridge.

They are in an eight-man field that also includes Sheffield’s Ernie Wearing, Tamworth’s Darren Plenderleith, Halifax’s Graeme Wilson, Andy Ferris from Stoke and Bradford’s Chris Mordue and James Wilcox.

The latest qualifiers from the fourth round of the Classic were Halifax’s Robert Hitchen and Gary Ellis, of Whitefield.
