YORKSHIRE are through to the County Championship semi-finals against Cheshire on August 2 despite losing by 439-422 to Merseyside.
The home side at Milnsbridge BC won 231-202 after getting off to a solid start, but the away side went down 237-191 at The Wheatsheaf for an overall defeat of 439-422.
A healthy attendance at Milnsbridge watched Longwood’s Paul Ingleby make a winning start, 21-13, and Paul Sigsworth also won, 21-12, after his Netherton teammate Steven Haigh had lost.
Dave Fox fought back after being 20-7 down to just lose 21-19, while Steven Hirst also came back after being 17-7 down this time to win 21-19.
Jack Dyson, in his senior county debut, won easily 21-5 and with three winners out of four in the last four, the home side won by 29.
The away side started off badly with Graeme Wilson losing 21-6 and Liam Griffin 21-5, although the latter played superbly only to come up against someone playing out of his skin!
