Bowls: Huddersfield Veterans gearing up for bid to be Yorkshire Inter-district bowling champions for an eighth successive year
HUDDERSFIELD Veterans start preparations tomorrow in their bid to become Yorkshire Inter-district champions for an eighth year in succession.
The squad are holding a friendly at Lindley BC tomorrow (1.30) between the home and away squads who represented Huddersfield last year – plus any other players who are eligible and present.
Two players who have reached the qualifying age of 65 have already indicated they would like to be considered – Graham Howe of Netherton Con and Stuart Manson of Golcar Lib.
However, selectors are also inviting anyone who may have been overlooked who feels they can compete at this level.
When the friendly is complete, two squads will be selected to represent Huddersfield this season, starting against Wakefield on May 4 (again 1.30).
The rest of the fixtures are West Riding (May 18), Halifax (June 1), Leeds (June 15), Skipton (June 29), Castleford (July 13) and Bradford (July 27).
