KIRKHEATON Cricket and Bowling Club stages the Huddersfield Merit final on Sunday.
There’s £300 up for grabs for the winner and an eager field ready to contest the TJ Garden Products sponsored showpiece, which last year was won by Lockwood Con’s Wayne Moseley.
Nicky White, who lost in the final of the Yorkshire Merit to his Thongsbridge teammate James Davison, will be among the favourites to land the title, although there is strong competiton – not least from his Holme Valley clubmates Ian Ross and Andy Farmer (beaten in the final of the Paul Sigsworth Celebration Trophy and who faces White in the first round).
The runner-up collects £100 and the losing semi-finalists £50 each, and Huddersfield Bowling Association stress that dress code will be strictly applied.
There will be a £50 prize for the best dressed bowler, sponsored by Laurie Hopkins Menswear of Lindley.
Draw – Ian Ross (Thongsbridge) v Dave Fox (Kirkheaton Con), Mark Sykes (Lindley Lib) v Eddie Haigh (Lockwood Con), Glen O’Sullivan (Crosland Moor) v Adam Douglas (Canalside), Andrew Wadsworth (Canalside) v Mark Wood (Lockwood Con), Mick Higgins (Lockwood Con) v Ian Briggs (Longwood), Andrew Wike (Almondbury Lib) v Scott Tattersley (Kirkheaton Con), Nicky White (Thongsbridge) v Andrew Farmer (Thongsbridge), Michael Martin (Canalside) v Peter Thornton (Lindley BC).
The quarterly meeting of the Huddersfield Bowling Association (Exec 7.30pm, Full meeting 8.00pm) will be held on Monday, June 18 at Paddock I&C. Failure to attend brings a £5 fine.
