ELLAND Bowling Association’s Men’s Merit Competition, sponsored by Taylor Bowls (Glasgow), will take place on Sunday at Greenroyd BC.
Entries will be accepted at the green on the day until 10.15am with a 10.30 start. Entry fee £2.50 and it’s open to all registered Elland League bowlers. Details from Les Holmes on 07908 037475.
Hill Crest BC held the third heat of their Open Pairs, sponsored by Grosvenors Butchers, when the winners were Richard and Simon Ellison, who beat Ian Howard and Tracy Lawrence 21-17.
The fourth heat will be played On Saturday (6.30) when the draw will be done greenside.

Latest qualifiers in the Mirfield Old Bank Autumn Double are Gordon Hawkins and Chris Ward (Stafford), who beat Dave Fox and Scott Tattersley (Kirkheaton Co ) 46-37, and Andy Mailer and Steve Marshall (Sheffield), who beat Ashley Tattersley and Michael Sweeney (Morton House) 59-54.
Paddy Higgins got through to the final of the Huddersfield Association’s Summer Handicap final – possibly the first 15-year-old to achieve the feat.
He beat his brother Michael in first round at Lindley BC, then Chris Squires in second and then Keiron O’Prey to get to final day. Earlier this season, Higgins won the Junior Merit at Crosland Moor.
