YORKSHIRE Ladies play their second game in the British Championship on Sunday against Staffordshire – with Huddersfield bowlers again to the fore as the county bid for a big win.

The home team play at Linthwaite Hall (2pm), while the away team travel to Meir Sports and Social Club, Stoke on Trent.

In the first games of the competition, Yorkshire narrowly lost to Warwickshire by 17 points while Staffordshire were beaten by Coventry & District.

While Yorkshire were the runners-up in last year’s final, Staffordshire won the competition in 2007.

Yorkshire need a good win to have any chance in this year’s event.

Meanwhile, four teams of Yorkshire Junior bowlers are travelling to the Grange, Warrington, on Saturday to try to retain the British Crown Green Ladies Junior County Championship title – which they have held for the past two years.

Sixteen teams from across the country will be competing in four sections – the winners playing off in semi-finals and final.
